Best of Ince Gordon Dadds

Our Sports & Social Committee run a number of events across the year, from organising the Christmas party to charity quiz nights and team drink events. We also have various clubs and societies ranging from our popular sailing club to our football team. We also have a choir who put on a Christmas performance every year for the firm which is always well attended. Charity is also well supported at IGD with the Firm sponsoring several people each year to run the London Marathon, and several of our trainees completing the Three Peaks Challenge this year.

We also host ‘Firm Drinks’ every other month with the whole London office which is a great way to meet people from across the firm. These take place either at our offices or at a local bar, or sometimes on our balcony during the summer months.

The social highlight of the year is indisputably our May Ball, a black tie event that is hosted at a five star hotel in London in May each year. The night is a longstanding tradition and features a three course dinner and various entertainment throughout the night, from DJs to circus performers. The highlight of the night is always the keynote speech- delivered by two mystery speakers chosen by our Senior Partner.

We also celebrate the qualification of our NQs with our annual NQ party every September. This event is organised by the NQs and always takes place in a mystery location. With the whole firm invited it always proves a fun way to recognise the success of our qualifying trainees and to inaugurate them as solicitors of the firm.

Nicola Tune, one of our second year trainees is currently a member of the Sports and Social Committee. Here she talks about her experience so far on the committee:

“I joined the Sports and Social Committee in my first seat as I was keen to be involved with the firm. The Committee meets regularly to discuss upcoming events and feedback from previous events. The firm offer a variety of extra-curricular activities, both sporting and social, which are a great way of meeting colleagues. Everyone from fellow trainees to partners and support staff take part. The sailing club organises events throughout the year including weekends away racing in the Solent. Our choir performs an annual Christmas carol concert at St. Olave’s Church and rehearses weekly. The football team regularly schedule internal five-a-side games as well as larger events where clients are invited to take part as well. There are also regular social events including a quiz night, supporting and participating in the London Marathon and drinks once a month with the whole office.”

The trainees also have the opportunity to organise their own event which usually takes place at the beginning of spring. It is a great way to bond with not only the people in your intake but also the first year trainees.
